Title: Pros and Cons for PIDs on Research Information System Registries (DRIS)
Authors: De Castro, Pablo
Abstract: The presentation explores the role of Research Information Management Systems -- and national and regional CRIS in particular -- in the adoption and implementation of various persistent identifiers (PIDs). Some challenges and opportunities posed by the current PID landscape are described and examples are provided for PID implementation initiatives by different national and regional CRIS (Finland, Norway, Portugal, Flanders) in the areas of author IDs, organisation IDs, grant IDs and PIDs for research instrument and facilities. The use of PIDs in CRIS registries like the euroCRIS Directory of Research Information Systems (DRIS) is also analysed, examining the pros and cons of the possible use of DOIs to identify CRIS records that may often be subject to changes.

Title: The Case Study on ”European Integration of National-level services” of FAIRCORE4EOSC
Authors: Nikkanen, Joonas
Abstract: National research information management systems would be invaluable sources of data for e.g. research assessment, science policy-making or to highlight EOSC-related contributions if interoperability and extensive data exchange could be achieved. The three areas addressed in the FAIRCORE4EOSC project case study on national RIM systems are summarised: Handling research project and activity information via the use of the Research Activity ID or RAiD; Enriching information in CRIS systems by means of the PID Graph and Exchanging and aggregating CRIS information via OpenAIRE and CERIF.

Title: FAIRCORE4EOSC and the Metadata Schema and Crosswalk Registry
Authors: Suominen, Tommi
Abstract: The EU-funded FAIRCORE4EOSC project (FC4E), currently at month 17 of 36, aims to develop nine new EOSC-Core components to improve the discoverability and interoperability of an increased amount of research outputs. These Core components -- some of which are to be addressed in further presentations within the project session -- are summarised together with a series of disciplinary case studies developed in collaboration with specific project partners. The emphasis is on core component no 3, the EOSC MSCR or Metadata Schema and Crosswalk Registry, whose structure and data governance are described in some detail. The hands-on FC4E workshop to be held at the CRIS2024 Conference in Vienna in May 2024 is announced.

Title: Refactoring CERIF and mapping it to research.fi
Authors: Dvořák, Jan; Ivanović, Dragan
Abstract: The presentation provides an update on the development f the CERIF refactoring project currently taking place within the EU-funded FAIRCORE4EOSC project. The rationale behind the refactoring of the CERIF data model is outlined together with a brief description of the new entities and data model structure. The CERIF Core is described and some examples are provided for additional modules either currently under development or to be added in the future. The ongoing pilot for mapping national research information services within the FAIRCORE4EOSC project is also presented with a few examples for already designed mappings.
