Description
Purpose of application:
Fraunhofer-FIS is the internal CRIS of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and it is based on open source software DSpace-CRIS. It was implemented in 2018 to serve a special purpose within the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
In order to observe and strengthen the aspect of scientificity, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft defined a set of scientific indicators and established a process to get comparable metrics for the defined indicators for every institute of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
Therefore (besides other sources) data from the Fraunhofer institutes has to be gathered, transmitted, checked and validated. To do these steps in a reliable way Fraunhofer-FIS was implemented.
Being a kind of supportive data tool for the whole system of scientific indicators at the moment, Fraunhofer-FIS is not an open system and only certain groups of persons at the institutes and at the Fraunhofer headquarter are working with Fraunhofer-FIS respectively are able to log in.
Future planning:
For the future, data exchange with the upcoming SAP system of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and with the institutional publications repository is planned. Therefore also a software upgrade onto new DSpace-CRIS 7 is planned.
