The System of Scientific Achievements of the University of Lodz (ScienceOn) is a fully functional CRIS operating at the University of Lodz (UŁ). The system is built on the basis of Omega-PSIR software of the Warsaw University of Technology. It provides the university authorities full insight into the scientific achievements of the university and enables reporting of achievements to external systems, including systems of the Polish Ministry of Education and Science. ScienceOn is integrated with the Publication Repository of the University of Lodz (RUŁ), thus providing access for users to full text files in accordance with copyright and permissions.
At the moment, the Knowledge Base of the University of Lodz contains the following data related to research activity: publications, projects, patents, journals published by the University, organized conferences and other activities of researchers. As the system develops, the catalog of collected data will expand to include: research data, other activities, research events, scientific achievements and other necessary data. All objects are semantically inter-related to form a knowledge-rich semantic web. ScienceOn makes it possible to search for field experts and research teams according to algorithms defined by authors of Omega-PSIR software. In terms of the profiles of researchers, the system has been integrated with the internal system of the university - Portal Pracowniczy UŁ.
The scope of data presented in the Profiles of Researchers allows for a complete presentation of the researcher and gives the opportunity to establish contact with them.
ScienceOn contains the complete, current organizational structure of the University of Lodz, which allows to present the network of connections between employees of different university units, as well as the connections between the different types of achievements.
