Biography
Theodore Papazoglou graduated with honors from the Physics Department of the University of Crete, Greece in 1985 and followed his graduate studies at the University of Southern California (PhD in Biomedical Engineering, 1990). After his post-doctoral training at the Cedars Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, CA, he worked as Principal Investigator at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Lasers of FO.R.T.H and as associated lecturer in the Physics department of the University of Crete. In 2001 he joined the European Commission and in 2006 he was involved in the preparatory work for the creation of the European Research Council (ERC) and the support of the ERC Scientific Council in the establishment of its scientific strategy. Since the beginning of 2009, he is working in the ERC Executive Agency and at the end of 2010 he was appointed Head of Unit for the support of the Scientific Council.
