    euroCRIS – Research Information Exchange and Aggregation Across Institutions, Regions and Countries

    The presentation summarises the role that interoperable CRIS systems may play in the aggregation of all kinds of valuable research information for the European Research Area (ERA) and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The CERIF data model is described as the basis for this cross-system information exchange workflows and some examples are provided for suprainstitutional CRIS, be it regional, national or funder CRIS. The recent drivers for international interoperability and aggregations are also explored, with an emphasis on the discussions on the topic at the CRIS2022 conference held May 12-14, 2022 in Dubrovnik (Croatia)

    Research Information Management Systems in Support of Open Science and Open Access

    The presentation explores the role of institutional research information management systems to support the implementation of open science and open access. The CERIF standard that enables system interoperability and information exchange is described, together with the various interlinked research entities that form the research graph. A snapshot for the CRIS infrastructure in Spain is provided, with an emphasis on the information these platforms are able to collect to inform decision-making processes and scientific advances.

    El valor de los sistemas CRIS en materia de apoyo a la investigación

    The presentation explores various ways in which Current Research Information Systems (CRIS) may be used to provide research support services. A first example for this is the way CRISs are used -- together with institutional repositories -- for Open Access/Open Science implementation purposes. The CERIF data model is presented as the basis for a wide range of interconnected contextual metadata elements that allow the comprehensive collection of research information to both showcase the research activity conducted at an institution and to support evidence-based decision-making within it. CRISs may also be of great value to collect information to be used for a reformed research assessment process in line with the aspirations of the CoARA movement. An overview of the CRIS landscape in Spain is provided together with a few reflections on the various software solutions available in the country and some specific features of such landscape.

    euroCRIS Session: VIVO implementations at Latin American institutions: different approaches and configurations, one common objective

    The presentation contains a few introductory slides to the euroCRIS Track at the 2021 VIVO annual conference, followed by an examination of the VIVO instances recorded in the euroCRIS Directory of Research Information Systems (DRIS) and their two main configurations, as standalone CRIS systems and as research portals on top of 'monolithic' institutional CRISs like Pure or Converis. The relevance of open source software solutions like VIVO or DSpace-CRIS in the Research Information Management landscape in Latin America is also highlighted.

Éstas suelen incluir directrices comprensivas para el intercambio de información de investigación con las instituciones proveedoras de datos, funcionalidad específica en las áreas de la evaluación científica y los indicadores derivados del análisis de datos, así como mecanismos para describir el panorama de la implantación de la ciencia abierta en un país o región concretos. Se espera que toda esta funcionalidad pueda servir de inspiración en el proceso de diseño e implantación de la plataforma nacional PerúCRIS.

    CRIS tools, governance and development model

    The presentation provides some figures from the euroCRIS Directory of Research Information Systems (DRIS) on available national and regional CRIS infrastructure worldwide and explain their governance model on the basis of some examples. CERIF is described as a key standard to ensure national and international CRIS system interoperability and CERIF-based technical coordination mechanisms are shown that are used for research information exchange between institutions and national/regional research portals. The gradual emergence of a CRIS infrastructure in Latin America is also addressed, together with community initiatives that may foster collaboration across institutions and CRIS projects.

    Research Information Management Systems: covering the whole research lifecycle

    Since the joint EUNIS/euroCRIS CRIS/IR survey report was published in 2016, Current Research Information Systems (CRISs) have become even more widely implemented at institutions and in countries all over the world. These platforms traditionally serve a double purpose: as tools to showcase the research activity conducted within its walls and as internal databases to enable evidence-based decision-making processes. Increasingly, they also act as a reliable and comprehensive information source for external systems and services. This text provides a snapshot of the current CRIS landscape – with an emphasis on Europe – and summarises the various ways CRISs are currently used as well as introduces new emerging uses and scenarios. Special attention is paid to the ever-growing number of national and regional CRIS platforms, which are increasingly seen as valuable research information collection systems for the analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of research in specific geographies.

    [ES] Presentación sobre sistemas CRIS para la Universidad de San Carlos (USAC) en Guatemala, actualmente en proceso de diseñar un sistema institucional de gestión de la investigación. Se propone un resumen de las funcionalidades más frecuentes de estos sistemas, haciendo énfasis en la interoperabilidad técnica y social a nivel interno y externo. Se exploran los límites entre Gestión de la Información Científica (RIM) y Gestión y Administración de la Investigación (RMA) y se presentan algunos ejemplos de soluciones que cubren tanto los aspectos internos de la gestón de la investigación como los orientados hacia el exterior. La presentación presta especial atención al entorno CRIS en América Latina.
