Item type:Publication, OpenAIRE compatibility for CRIS systems: recent progress(euroCRIS, 2018-06-14); ; Several contributions on the implementation of the OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Managers have been presented at previous CRIS conferences, both in St Andrews in 2016 and in Rome in 2014. However, by the start of 2018, the number of CRIS systems included on the list of OpenAIRE data providers was still zero. One key reason for such a slow progress in the implementation of this key step in the area of system interoperability has been the development of an updated version of the CERIF-XML-based OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Managers that has taken place in the meantime in order to enable a smoother and more effective information exchange process. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The role of CRIS’s in the research life cycle. A case study on implementing a FAIR RDM policy at Radboud University, the Netherlands(euroCRIS, 2018-06-15) ;Jetten, Mijke; In 2016, Radboud University (Nijmegen, The Netherlands) started a project to extend its CRIS (METIS) with a functionality that allows researchers to register (metadata) and archive (uploading files) their research data (through the CRIS) while at the same time making the data available for reuse in a FAIR way (via national Dutch data archive DANS). - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, EuroCRIS and CERIF. The Importance of an International Standard Metadata Model for Research Information(Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information (CVTI SR), 2014-04-02)The presentation introduces euroCRIS as an international organisation for promoting the implementation of efficient and interoperable research information management infrastructure with a particularly active presence in Eastern European countries. The Common European Research Information Format (CERIF) is described as a standard that will allow a comprehensive modeling of the research activity carried out at institutional or national level, with key features such as Link Entities or the Semantic Layer. The requirement for system interoperability is stressed within a complex Research Information Ecosystem where multiple systems need to exchange data. The key role CERIF plays in this framework is described with an example application to the modeling of research data via the 3-layer approach. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, euroCRIS Membership Meeting Paris May 2015 Conclusions(euroCRIS, 2015-05-12)The conclusions of the Spring 2015 euroCRIS membership meeting in Paris are summarized in these few slides, again proving the value of these meetings as a source of information and expertise exchange. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The (possible) role of Research Information Systems (CRIS) for an institution and its researchers. With special attention to research data management and archiving(euroCRIS, 2018-06-07)The presentation describes the possible use of CRIS systems as one-stop-shops for recording all research-related activities and makes emphasis on the role of research data management as a potential game changer in the perception that researchers may have of such systems as research tool vs platforms for research administration alone. A case study is presented for the METIS institutional CRIS at Radboud University in Nijmegen, where different areas of research data management -- such as the production of data management plans or the processes for data deposit, persistent and unique identification and exposure -- have been fully integrated in the CRIS in order to make METIS a valuable resource for researchers beyond its reporting features. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Open Science: the crucial importance of metadata(euroCRIS, 2017-11-21)“We conclude that a European Integrated Research Information Infrastructure is technically feasible thanks to recent technological developments and especially the maturity of the European CERIF standard, which allows seamless interlinking of datasets and/or research information systems, in different formats and including non-CERIF systems”. This was the conclusion of the report "Measuring scientific performance for improved policy making" produced by a working group of the European Parliament in April 2014. These few slides to introduce the Panel Discussion on Open Science and FAIR Data argue that given the wealth of metadata contained in CRIS system and the gradual evolution of these platforms from tools for research administration to primary resources of research information, it makes sense for the Open Science and FAIR Data communities on one side and the RIM community on the other to collaborate to progress together towards a common objective. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The DRE Project (Digital Research Environment) at Radboud University: integrating the CRIS in the on line research work space of the researcher(euroCRIS, 2015-11-11)The presentation reports on the “DRE project “ (DRE = Digital Research Environment) that was started second half of 2015 at Radboud University, the Netherlands. The goal of the project is to create an IT solution for a researcher, in which both the research tools as such (data management tools, analysis tools, …) and the research information tools (CRIS) are integrated into one personal online environment. The new or innovative approach of the project is that, unlike VRE’s or DRE’s up to now, it clearly takes into account the fact that research information and research information management nowadays are an inescapable aspect of the daily reality of a researcher. A core result of the DRE project is that it will offer the researcher a personalized “data pond” as the basic resource for the individual research activities and parallel to and integrated with this a “personal research information pond”, a kind of personal CRIS, on top of and linked to the institutional CRIS, highly configurable by and adaptable to the needs of the individual researcher. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Towards a Model for FAIR Data Information Infrastructures(euroCRIS, 2016-11-10); The presentation examines the workflows needed in order to implement the FAIR principles for research data (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, Reusability). FAIR data information infrastructures and services can in principle be developed and managed by different organisations /entities than the ones that deal with storage infrastructures. It's argued that CRIS systems are core elements of the technological solution. The CERIF data model and the 3-layer metadata model developed by euroCRIS for research data are additional relevant elements of the proposed model, together with a service and support solution for the management of the dataset information. The workflows around research data management at Radboud University and DANS are shown as an example for this model. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, From Gutenberg to Berners-Lee: the Need for Metadata(euroCRIS, 2010-05-10)Metadata allow us to describe and classify research information in a systematic way, and as such they are indispensable for searching and finding academic publications and other results of research. In order to make full use of the information discovery potential of the Internet, the 'formal' and 'content' metadata commonly used in repositories should be supplemented with the 'context' metadata as stored in a CRIS. Whereas the "traditional" repository metadata stem from the “Gutenberg Era” – the past few centuries in which print on paper was the main research information and communication tool – and focus on (the description of) the individual publication, the context metadata used in a CRIS is more appropriate for our age of electronic and networked information supply. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, euroCRIS, CERIF and CRIS(Center for the Science of Science & Innovation Policy (CSSIP), 2013-09-17)Prsentation on euroCRIS, CERIF and CRIS Systems delivered by Ed Simons, euroCRIS President, at the Workshop on "Empirical Foundations of Science and Innovation Policy" held Sep 16-17, 2013 at the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche in Paris, France. The presentation provided an introduction to euroCRIS work in research information management and to the CERIF metadata standard architecture and applications. The research information management infrastructure in The Netherlands, with initiatives like METIS, NARCIS and the Digital Author Identifier DAI, was provided as an example for good system integration and interoperability and projects were highlighted such as MICE and CERIFying Snowball Metrics in the UK and the Spanish initiative for CERIFication of the National Harmonised CV (CVN).
