    PTCRIS (Portuguese Current Research Information System - https://ptcris.pt/) is a program aiming at the creation and sustained development of a national integrated information ecosystem to support research management, according to the best international standards and practices. This ecosystem includes outcomes and outputs modules, in particular institutional repositories managed by the nationwide service RCAAP (Scientific Open Access Repository of Portugal – http://www.rcaap.pt/).

    The Zapping PTCRIS session (PTCRIS: National Portuguese Current Research Information System) delivered as a CRIS2026 opening keynote was a dynamic format featuring a series of short, fast-paced presentations designed to deliver key updates and insights about the PTCRIS Programme. Bringing together multiple speakers in a “lightning talk” style, this session highlighted recent developments, ongoing initiatives, and future directions of PTCRIS in an engaging and accessible way. The zapping session took participants on a journey through its evolution, showcasing major milestones, impactful achievements, and the continued commitment to advancing research information management in Portugal.

    Development of Plan S monitoring and compliance tool in the context of PTCRIS for Portuguese National Science Foundation

    The Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has endorsed Plan-S since early 2021 and it is working towards implementing its obligations. To ensure an effective fulfillment of its open science policies, FCT is implementing a new monitoring and compliance tool, that will enforce the compliance with Plan-S as well as the new FCT’s open access (OA) policy. This paper details FCT’s approach to implement this tool and discusses the challenges of integrating information that is spread across multiple systems. The new tool will be built on top of infrastructures and services developed by FCT over the last years under the umbrella of the Portuguese Current Research Information System (PTCRIS) program.

    PTCRIS: Planning and implementing a national CRIS ecosystem

    The PT-CRIS initiative set out to ensure the creation and sustained development of a regulatory framework (protocols/standards) and infrastructures to implement an integrated national information ecosystem (PTCRIS) to support themanagement of scientific activity in Portugal. With persistent identifiers at its core both for authors and organisations and running under the banner of the initiative "more science, less bureaucracy", the presentation provides an update on the current state and future progress of the Portuguese national-level CRIS, highlighting key interoperability features like PTCRISSync.

    Developing a national science & technology funding registry in Portugal

    Funding information is one of the pillars of the research information ecosystem. Despite this, it is still very challenging to associate scientific outputs to all the entities that financially support a project and all the stakeholders involved. To tackle this, PTCRIS – a national integrated research information management ecosystem - developed a new infrastructure to support the management of attributed funding to the scientific triad in the Portuguese scientific ecosystem: organizations, people and projects. The SciPROJ database is the new national database that aggregates funding records (national and international) that support science and technology activities carried out in Portugal.
