Background • A data management plan (DMP) is a structured guide which keeps a record of what research data is created and what happens to that data during and after a project. • A basic DMP tool guides researchers through the creation of a DMP Problem • Many DMP tools are not fully developed. They: -Do not realize the full potential of integration with CRIS, resulting in additional work for the research team to fill out their DMP. -Have little or no machine-actionability, meaning there is limited potential for other systems to access the data, unnecessarily restricting the sharing of data. -Duplicate questions within the tool and have no methods for guiding the user through completing a complex DMP. -Are often difficult to use and customize.
