Item type:Publication, How opening up data on publicly funded research became a driver of innovation in Flanders. The use case of FRIS(euroCRIS, 2019-05-29)33.000 research projects. 80.000 researchers. 378.000 scientific publications. This is the amount of data from scientific research that are being collected by Flanders Research Information Space (FRIS), a program run by the Flemish Government (Department Economy, Science of Innovation). Information comes directly from 34 research institutes whose processes and systems are aligned to support the government's strategy that opening up data is essential for driving knowledge transfer to the industry and the broad public. Data is being fed continuously and in an automated way into the Flemish information space. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, FRIS R3 - CERIF XML in large scale exchange of research information(euroCRIS, 2016-06-09); ;Plauborg, BrianThe ambition of FRIS R3 is to take responsibility for a broader regional research information infrastructure that enables the participating Flemish research institutions, and other service users like funders and assessment entities, to uniquely identify and reuse relevant “research entities” such as researchers, organisations, projects, research output as well as other research related aspects – as well as showcasing Flemish Research. In this paper we present the motivation, development processes, technical architecture and implementation behind the new Flemish infrastructure for research information called FRIS R3. FRIS R3 also serves as an example of a real world implementation of CERIF XML that uncovers challenges that must be addressed if CERIF XML is intended to stay relevant in commercial and large scale contexts.
