    Risk Assessment Framework in the EU’s AI Governance: Essential “Good to Knows” in the AI Act

    AI systems offer rapid access to information and services, driven by large datasets, advancing hardware, and growing engineering expertise. Yet despite the widespread hype surrounding their capabilities, these systems can pose significant risks to fundamental rights, including privacy, equal treatment, and even the presumption of innocence. As the first supranational body to adopt a comprehensive regulatory framework, the AI Act which is expected to apply fully from August 2026, the EU provides a structured guidance on how to identify and manage these risks, categorizing AI systems from unacceptable to low risk.
