Abstract
The presentation summarises the work done by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in the area of Science, technology and innovation (STI) policy and data. Key challenges to address in this domain are the low quality of the available STI data, its low re-use and the fact that the data is not shared or linked.
The in-depth OECD case study of the STI landscape in Norway is presented as an example of this OECD work. The OECD Expert Group on Management and Analysis of Research and Innovation Administrative Data (MARIAD) was launched in 2021 to collect and examine administrative data for STI indicators and analysis within a wider NESTI (National Experts on Science and Technology Indicators) remit on R&D performance and R&D funding. The MARIAD Expert Group was created by the NESTI as a mechanism for systematic engagement with R&D funders, and its goals include among other the examination and promotion of technical research information standards and of the multilateral exchange of data and information.
