Abstract
PURE is used since 2014 at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) to collect and score the scientific output of publications and research projects of 77 clinics and institutes on an institutional level.
Approximately 2,500 publications per year are imported by the authors into PURE, mostly using PubMed as import source. Publications are approved by the clinics and institutes and validated at the deanery of the medical faculty. The journal based publications get a specific UKE-Score in PURE derived from the impact factor and the medians of the categories of the Journal Citation Report. The organisation, the first author and the last authors is affiliated for this publication, gets ⅓ of the UKE-Score each. The organisations of the middle authors divide the remaining points.
Projects are assigned to one of three categories depending of the reputation of the funding agencies and scored by the yearly expenditure on an institutional level.
The system is highly transparent due to the reports the institutions can create at any time.
