Abstract
This presentation provides an introduction to the CERIF metadata standard for research information management. Being delivered within a session devoted to 'Global standards in research, links are highlighted to other standards such as ORCID for author identification purposes, DataCite for research data codification or Dublin Core and the rest of open access repository metadata family. Emphasis is made on the need for standard harmonisation in order for institutions to be able to exploit system interoperability, and the role of euroCRIS and the recently released OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS managers are reviewed in this context. Finally, the Catalan Research Portal (PRC) project for building a DSpace-CRIS-based portal of Catalan research by collecting a CERIF-XML information feed from institutional CRISs at Catalan universities is described as a pioneering initiative in the interoperability domain.
