Abstract
In 2016-2017 a survey was performed in Flanders by the VLIR Work Group RDM on the actual practices and beliefs of Flemish researchers on research data management, which is a hot topic on the European research agenda. This survey made clear that a joint effort of the Flemish universities was required in order to overcome some of the hurdles of RDM in a fast and efficient way. If selected, this presentation/poster will include figures from the survey as well as measures that have been taken to overcome some of the most pressing items in RDM (i.e. the establishment of the DMPonline.be portal, the development of funder templates,…). Furthermore, this presentation/poster will also focus on the requirements that needed the support of the Flemish university boards as well as the Flemish Government in accordance with the upcoming GDPR (i.e. data infrastructure, training capacities, safety aspects). To summarize, we will give an overview how Flanders organized themselves in terms of RDM (and GDPR-compliancy) in a short term notice, and what the future perspectives are (i.e. open data).
