Abstract:
National Persistent Identifier (PID) strategies are coordinated efforts by countries to implement a framework for the use of PIDs across their research ecosystems. They are core to the concept of FAIR data principles and aim to standardise the identification of research outputs, such as datasets, publications, project, and researchers, facilitating better data management and accessibility.

As part of our discovery activities in 2025, the Pure team are running a project with the goal of reviewing the requirements for PID support as reported by our communities against current capabilities. The outcome of the review will provide recommendations, outline the business case for further investment and consider any roadmap implications. This presentation aims to provide attendees with the interim results of our discovery work, focusing on the scope and requirements, UI and Data model alignment and integrations work needed. The presentation will allow Pure users to contribute to the prioritisation of the improvements required as we progress into the next planning round.
