The presentation describes the possible use of CRIS systems as one-stop-shops for recording all research-related activities and makes emphasis on the role of research data management as a potential game changer in the perception that researchers may have of such systems as research tool vs platforms for research administration alone. A case study is presented for the METIS institutional CRIS at Radboud University in Nijmegen, where different areas of research data management -- such as the production of data management plans or the processes for data deposit, persistent and unique identification and exposure -- have been fully integrated in the CRIS in order to make METIS a valuable resource for researchers beyond its reporting features.en_US
