Abstract
In 2023, the Swedish Energy Agency, Formas, Forte, the Swedish Research Council and Vinnova were jointly mandated by the Swedish government to develop specifications enabling harmonized and comparable data sharing through APIs. This initiative led to the establishment of the GDP Project, aimed at creating a common data standard for Swedish funders of research and innovation. Information about the project has also been included in the Swedish government’s report to the STIP Compass provided by the OECD.
The project and early results were presented at the euroCRIS Membership Meeting in Leuven last year. At that point, version 2.0 of the GDP data standard had recently been adopted and plans for API development were underway. Since then, significant progress has been made.
At the CRIS2026 conference, the authors are presenting:
• the technical solutions used for exposing GDP data via APIs;
• the structure and documentation of the data standard;
• practical examples of how the data can be used.
• and plans for future development of both the standard and the API ecosystem.
