Item type:Publication, Research Information Management Practices at US Institutions(euroCRIS, 2021-05-19); "Research Information Management at US Institutions" is a research project led by euroCRIS Strategic Partner OCLC to explore in more depth the RIM practices and workflows at institutions based in the United States, https://oc.lc/us-rim-project. The presentation provides an overview of the context and goes through a number of institutional use cases for several US universities whose RIM practices and systems have been analysed by the project. A generic RIM framework template is proposed describing the different research information exchange and processing tasks carried out by institutional systems, together with its practical application at some of the institutional case studies. Some recommendations arising from the project are summarised and a request for feedback is issued so that a conversation may take place to compare European and US American RIM practices. Item type:Publication, De Facto Standards Interoperating in the Real World - VIVO/ORCID/CASRAI(2014-08-08); ; A compelling and dominant use case for the research management domain is the discoverability of researchers based on their expertise. An approach to meet the requirements of a larger research information landscape needs to apply business context to constrain the whole-world into smaller semantic packages. These packages (CVs, finance reports, HR reports, outputs reports, impacts reports, etc.) need to be exchangeable with relevant systems in multiple domains such as HR, Finance and Research Information systems. To guarantee a scalable approach, these packages need to align with community-driven efforts at standardizing IDs and models for these package exchanges. VIVO and ISF already align with ORCID for the standard ID part of the problem and we plan to focus on the standard model part of the problem. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Findings from the euroCRIS/OCLC Research Survey of Research Information Management Practices(euroCRIS, 2018-11-01); ; At last year’s Pure International Conference in Barcelona, we encouraged you to participate in a global Survey of Research Information Management Practices, jointly administered by euroCRIS and OCLC Research. This year we will be sharing the findings from that survey. With more than 300 survey respondents from 40 nations, the survey provides a powerful and current snapshot of the state of the research information management ecosystem worldwide. In this presentation, we will particularly focus on findings relevant to the Pure community, examining research information management uses and functions, stakeholders, regional distinctions and incentives, interoperability, and the adoption of persistent identifiers. Item type:Publication, Practices and Patterns: the Convergence of Repository and CRIS Functions(euroCRIS, 2019-06-11); ; ; The recently released report "Practices and Patterns in Research Information Management: Findings from a Global Survey", jointly produced by OCLC Research and euroCRIS, shines a light onto a relevant area of repository evolution, namely the ever increasing coupling of its workflows to those traditionally associated with Research Information Management (RIM, or CRIS) systems. Previous landscape analysis had already identified this trend a few years ago, and this comprehensive OCLC/euroCRIS exercise provides new evidence on repositories and RIM systems acting like a single integrated, interoperable system for the purpose of collecting and exposing the institutional research output. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

How much are research institutions actually investing in infrastructures and services to support open content for academic and non-academic users? Without greater knowledge of the costs of human and financial resources that libraries are allocating to support open content, how can they make informed planning decisions? Item type:Publication, OCLC–euroCRIS Strategic Partnership and the Survey on Research Information Management Practices(euroCRIS, 2017-11-21)The presentation introduces the global network of library partnership under OCLC and describes the current worklines for OCLC Research. One of the key areas of activity is the exploration of the roles played by research libraries in the domain of research information management. In the past year OCLC has teamed up with euroCRIS (which whom a Memorandum of Understanding has recently been signed) for producing a report on the subject of RIM and the role that libraries have in its institutional implementation. Finally, the ongoing 2017 RIM Survey at http://oc.lc/rim is described. This joint OCLC/euroCRIS survey will collect information on the current situation around institutional research information management practices worldwide, with a specific emphasis on the research library activity in the area.
