    COAR Notify Project one year later: from the wireframe to the first official releases

    An update of the progress of the COAR Notify protocol project will be presented. After one year, when 4Science presented the first concepts and wireframes of the Notify Protocol at euroCRIS Strategic Membership Meeting 2023, we are proud to showcase the real implementation of the Notify Protocol within the DSpace and DSpace-CRIS 8 version. The COAR Notify protocol has become a reality that starts to be used by some DSpace & DSpace-CRIS adopters.

    The implementation of a Research Information Management System (aka CRIS/RIMS) at any University is challenging from the administrative, organisational, technical points of view, not to mention the economics. There are several solutions on the market that claim to address all the University needs with different points of strength and weakness that are hard to understand without a deep dive into the solution. Costs of some of these solutions can be hidden and unfortunately commercial strategies can be used to lock the adopting university in a path that only at its end will show the real costs.

    How to find confidence in Openness? Boost your safety and security

    The presentation explores the relationship between openness and security from different perspectives, showing the major achievements of DSpace-CRIS in this area. We chose to explore this topic because, in the Open Source world where DSpace-CRIS belongs, reputation - as we know - matters more than anything else, and it is very fair to show concrete results applied to security. We want adopting institutions to feel safe and secure.

    The Barcelona Declaration at the University of Milan: how to enable Open Research Information with free open tools such as DSpace-CRIS

    With the release of the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information (DORI), the euroCRIS community has a leading role in promoting open research information worldwide. This is realized through the support to the Declaration and its implementation, the adoption of open policies—such as those implemented by the University of Milan—and the use open platforms, like AIR@UNIMI https://air.unimi.it/ , powered by IRIS and built on DSpace-CRIS. For nearly two decades, the University of Milan has adhered to these principles, positioning itself as a leader in advancing open research information in parallel to open access to scholarly outputs, while the global community continues to work toward similar goals.
