Item type:Publication, Lessons Learned and the Road Ahead: Building on the Success of RIS Synergy(euroCRIS, 2024-05-17); ; ; ; The RIS Synergy project was launched in March 2020 under the leadership of TU Wien and is a part of the Research Data Cluster, which brings together digitisation projects to improve research support along the scientific project cycle. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) as part of the "Digital and Social Transformation in Higher Education" call for proposals. Initially starting with 13 partners (10 universities and 3 research funding institutions), the project consortium now includes 18 participating institutions (14 universities, 4 research funding institutions). The goals of RIS Synergy encompass optimising administrative support for research projects, enhancing data quality and transparency for research institutions, and improving the quality of research data. It addresses key aspects of digital transformation within a cross-institutional consortium. The project is divided into two subprojects: Subproject One, “Interfaces and Standards”, focuses on developing standardised access and exchange options for the systems of funding organisations, research institutions, and public administrative bodies. Subproject Two, “Concept Study for a Research Portal”, then analyses the framework conditions and requirements for creating an Austrian national research portal. Thus, RIS Synergy aims to enhance visibility for science by standardising and digitising services, as well as by establishing expert networks. This paper offers insights into the project’s overall approach, key findings from the last four years as well as lessons learned, and provides an outlook on future challenges related to the project's conclusion and its transition to regular operations. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Artificial intelligence for CRIS Systems(euroCRIS, 2024-10-22); ; The "Artificial intelligence for CRIS Systems" (AI4CRIS) Working Group is a new initiative by euroCRIS aimed at exploring the impact and exploiting the opportunities posed by the application of AI to research information management workflows and to their associated CRIS systems. Item type:Publication, Research Information on an International Level: Understanding the diverse landscape of national and regional CRIS(euroCRIS, 2024-05-15); ; ; ; CRIS2024 conference round table on the topic of national/regional research portals and research information systems. Two years after the CRIS2022 workshop "National Research Portal 101: The dos and don'ts of building a sustainable portal" at http://hdl.handle.net/11366/1976 that initiated the CRISCROS Working Group on National and Regional Research Portals, the working group would like to present the findings of almost two years of collaboration in a specific session dedicated to this topic. The activity was conducted as a one-hour session with the participation of working group participants as well as other interested conference visitors. Item type:Publication, National Research Portal 101: The dos and don'ts of building a sustainable portal(euroCRIS, 2022-05-12); ; ; ; This is a proposal for a CRIS2022 conference workshop to discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with the development of a national research information management system. The activity is conceived as a half-day workshop with the participation of different – mostly European – initiatives and projects to implement national and regional CRIS portals. Since this is planned as an on-site event and an opportunity for a face-to-face discussion in Dubrovnik, where the CRIS2022 conference will be held in May 2022, in-person participation is essential in order to have a lively exchange on the various topics outlined in the attached extended abstract. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Implementing CRIS Interfaces with RIS Synergy: Challenges and Opportunities of a Multidisciplinary Bottom-Up Approach(euroCRIS, 2022-05-12); ; ; ; This paper analyses how RIS Synergy, a digitisation project aiming to synergise CRIS across the Austrian research landscape, will meet this goal by building open, standardised interfaces and by laying the groundwork for a national research portal as a collaborative bottom-up initiative. As such, the project strongly reflects change management as a key theme throughout various aspects, such as the organisation and decision-making processes of a multidisciplinary consortium and the systems architecture. Item type:Publication, Striking a Balance: Bridging Needs and Researcher Convenience Through Interactions Between Researchers, Administration and IT Tools(euroCRIS, 2024-05-15); ; ; Universities need to position themselves, push and promote research and secure funding. They require detailed insights into their research strengths, comprehensive information about their researchers, and strategic planning based on this knowledge. Furthermore, securing these strategies and operational funding necessitates meaningful reports based on reliable data and analysis. Hence, universities necessitate systems supporting various aspects of the research lifecycle, including grant management, project tracking, publication management, collaboration and reporting. A proactive CRIS (Current Research Information System) at a technical university can significantly enhance research efficiency, amplify research visibility and impact, and encourage collaboration among researchers and other stakeholders. At the core of AI’s relevance to CRIS are ML and Large Language Models (LLM) which are instrumental in advancing data analysis and managing the increasing complexity of the data. This overview focuses on these AI technologies to highlight their potential for significantly enhancing research information management.
