Item type:Publication, Persistent conference identifiers in CRIS – first implementations with VIVO and URIS(euroCRIS, 2024-05-15); ; ; ; Academic events serve as pivotal instruments for scholarly discourse and networking within the scientific community. However, the quality of metadata describing these events often falls short, hindering their effective utilization. The ConfIDent project addresses this gap by establishing a registry for high-quality conference metadata with persistent identifiers (PIDs). It aims to enhance data management and accessibility while aligning with FAIR principles. ConfIDent has pioneered the creation of approximately 5000 DOIs for events, promoting transparency and interoperability. Integrating Conference PIDs into Research Information Systems (RIS) is essential for comprehensive research evaluation, as advocated by frameworks like the Leiden Manifesto and the Hong Kong Principles. Two case studies illustrate how the implementation of ConfIDent in RIS platforms can be tailored to specific research domains: the Forschungsatlas and the Ukraine Research Information System (URIS). Both cases aim at automated retrieval and integration of academic event metadata, enhancing the visibility and assessment of scholarly activities. Looking ahead, the integration of PIDs for events holds promise for advancing the role of academic events within RIS, fostering a more robust and nuanced approach to research evaluation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, CERIF-VIVO mapping v1.0(euroCRIS, 2022-05-13); ; ; In July 2021 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between VIVO and euroCRIS. The euroCRIS and VIVO representatives recognized a shared goal and the need for joint action in integration of research domain information across the world. One specific action started after the signing of the MoU is updating the mapping between the CERIF data model and the VIVO Ontology from 2013. Item type:Publication, CERIF2VIVO - Mapping: Revival(TIB Hannover, 2022-06-15); ; ; The Memorandum of Understanding signed by the VIVO Community and euroCRIS states that a mapping between the VIVO ontology and the CERIF data model is common objective for both organisations. In order to achieve this goal a joint task force was established. The process to update a previous, outdated attempt at mapping the CERIF data model to the VIVO ontology issued in 2013 started by the end of 2021. Item type:Publication, The Research Core Dataset (KDSF) in Linked Data context(euroCRIS, 2018-06-15); ; This paper describes our efforts to implement the Research Core Dataset (“Kerndatensatz Forschung”; KDSF) as an ontology in VIVO. KDSF is used in VIVO to record the required metadata on incoming data and to produce reports as an output. While both processes need an elaborate adaptation of the KDSF specification, this paper focusses on the adaptation of the KDSF basic data model for recording data in VIVO. In this context, the VIVO and KDSF ontologies were compared with respect to domain, syntax, structure, and granularity in order to identify correspondences and mismatches. To produce an alignment, different matching approaches have been applied. Item type:Publication, Towards a reference implementation for open scientometric indicators: the ROSI project(euroCRIS, 2019-11-20)The objectives of the BMBF funded project ROSI are to build a reference implementation for scientometric indicators based exclusively on open data sources and geared to the needs of researchers. For this purpose, various possible scientometric data sources were evaluated. On that basis a prototype was built, where scientometric indicators can be shown based on persistent identifiers. In parallel, interviews were conducted in which the wishes and reservations of researchers were collected. The first preliminary findings from the interviews and the prototype are presented and put up for discussion. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, VIVO Data Integration at TIB: Tools, workflows & connections with VIVO (as a CRIS and a RIMS)(euroCRIS, 2019-09-04); The case study presented in these slides describes the standalone VIVO configuration implemented at the TIB Hannover to serve the research information management (RIM) needs at the institute, https://vivo.tib.eu/fis/. The presentation looks into the data management workflows for publications, author names and projects and into the use of OpenRefine to clean up the data. It is argued that a standalone VIVO may be the most efficient way to address such RIM needs at small institutions with a diverse research production that may not get indexed in the regular data sources for CRISs. The presentation also explores the main RIM areas that presently pose hard-to-tackle challenges from a VIVO perspective (the so-called "Four horsemen of the VIVOcalypse").
