Item type:Publication, OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Interoperation based on CERIF-XML(euroCRIS, 2013-05-13); ; The presentation describes the initiative taken by the OpenAIRE European project for enabling CERIF-based CRIS systems to become additional data providers for this content aggregation. The OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Systems will be based on a CERIF-XML exchange format developed for the purpose matching the CERIF-compliant OpenAIRE data model with the CERIF-based CRIS metadata standards. Item type:Publication, Harmonising Research Reporting in the UK – Experiences and output from UKRISS(euroCRIS, 2014-05-13); ; ; The Jisc-funded UK Research Information Shared Service (UKRISS) project investigated the reporting of research information across the UK HE sector and assessed the feasibility of a national infrastructure based on CERIF with the objective of increasing the efficiency, productivity and reporting quality across the sector. A core reporting profile was developed that would enable harmonised reporting on RCUK-funded research, taking into account the HE-BCI survey as well as REF reporting elements. In this paper we describe the UKRISS modelling approach and provide some insight into the UKRISS reporting objects to support understanding of their formal CERIF representations, i.e. the selection of underlying CERIF entities; the challenges with managing objects and aggregations in CERIF. Item type:Publication, A multi-level metadata approach for a Public Sector Information data infrastructure(2012-06-07); ; This paper describes an approach for representing and handling metadata about Public Sector Information data sets in a large scale data infrastructure as designed within ENGAGE, a project of the FP7 Research Infrastructures programme. A multi-level approach is adopted, allowing management of metadata at various levels of expressive power, and thus enabling different use cases and requirements to be served through a single platform. CERIF is being investigated as a common conceptual model to ensure information integration from diverse sources without loss of meaning and furthermore as the basis for the generation of Linked Open Data. Through detailed mappings from common metadata schemata used for PSI it is shown that CERIF is a data model suitable for representing rich contextual metadata for the domain of governmental datasets. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Aware of the use of many coexistent identifiers within the community --such as internal StaffID, DAI, ResearcherID, ScopusID and now ORCID for authors, plus FunderID or PIC for OrgUnits and DOIs for publications-- euroCRIS has chosen a federated identifier model based on the use of persistent UUIDs which will allow for a generic collection of all identifiers in the datamodel linking them to each other. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Entities and Identities in Research Information Systems(euroCRIS, 2012-06-08); ; Where science is increasingly becoming a global business and furthermore with open data and access initiatives, means to identify and thus to connect system-internal with non-internal entities are urgently needed. The need for identifiers beyond systems is thus a global requirement but also relevant within organization boundaries spanning multiple systems. Various identifier initiatives and systems have started in the scientific domain and beyond. However, they have not yet achieved the required interoperability. With this paper we aim to collect additional essential ingredients towards designing a sustainable CERIF identifier sub model, contributing to ongoing discussions and supporting design decisions. Item type:Publication, OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Managers: Supporting interoperability of Open Research Information through established standards(euroCRIS, 2014-04-14); ; ; ; OpenAIRE is the European infrastructure enabling researchers to comply with the European Union requirements for Open Access to research results. OpenAIRE collects metadata from data sources across Europe and beyond and defines interoperability guidelines to assist providers in exposing their information in a way that is compatible with OpenAIRE. This contribution focuses on a specific type of data source, CRIS systems, and the respective OpenAIRE guidelines, based on CERIF XML. A range of issues, spanning different aspects of information representation and exchange, needed to be addressed by the guidelines in order to define a complete solution for interoperability.
