Item type:Publication, Integrating CERIF entities in a multidisciplinary e-infrastructure for environmental research data(euroCRIS, 2014-05-13); ; ; The paper proposes different solutions to integrate CERIF in the environmental dataset domain, based on the quality of semantic mapping as well as on the characteristics of the CERIF data model. A two-way crosswalk is described resulting in the identification of a core of corresponding metadata and a proposal of extensions of the CERIF model. Extensions of ISO concepts are also described to provide contextual research information in the domain of environmental research data. Finally, the crosswalk has been implemented in the GI-cat discovery broker framework. Successful tests demonstrated the possibility for CERIF information to be integrated in ISO compliant infrastructures and for INSPIRE information to be captured in CERIF. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Toward the Integration of Datasets in the CRIS Environment: A Preliminary Analysis(euroCRIS, 2012-06-07); ; The paper presents the results of an explorative, qualitative analysis of research data archives listed in OpenDOAR that provide information about projects. Its aim is to analyze whether in the current practice of research data archives metadata describing projects are present, which types of metadata are used, how this information can be retrieved. The variety of archives listed in OpenDOAR allowed us to capture common characteristics in the broad context of research data than can be the basis to identify issues related to the granularity needed in the description of the association between research data and projects. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, State of the Art and Roadmap for Current Research Information Systems and Repositories: White Paper(euroCRIS, 2010-05-10); ; Various pressures bring CRIS and repositories together. In many countries evaluation of research is becoming important, to assure public funds are well-spent. Such requirements need to associate research output (including publications but also products, patents, dissemination at events) with persons, organizational units (university, faculty, department, cross-department centre, research group), projects (e.g. funded grants), facilities (e.g. large synchrotron radiation sources), equipment (particular experiment) for analysis. Repository systems usually do not collect this contextual information, being restricted to scholarly publication output with title, abstract, author and some other publication-related information, commonly based on DC (Dublin Core) metadata. On the other hand, some CRIS include within them the research outputs as objects (e.g. publications). Similarly, the context of a research output is important in evaluating its utility, quality and relevance to any repurposing. Context is usually recorded in a CRIS. CERIF provides an appropriate timestamped structure so that provenance information is also available.
