    Implementation of OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS managers onto the Finnish VIRTA Publication Information Service
    (euroCRIS, 2018-11-28)
    ;
    ;
    The presentation describes the workflows for information exchange underpinning the national-level VIRTA publications database in Finland. The situation with regard to OpenAIRE aggregation for Finnish publications is analysed and the conclusion is that it makes technical and economic sense to implement a centralised approach to OpenAIRE compliance based on VIRTA. This is to be achieved via the CERIF-XML Guidelines for CRIS Managers. The implementation process for this interoperability mechanism is described, including the CERIFication of the VIRTA data model, the setting of an OAI-PMH endpoint on the system and considerations on the validation of the metadata feed. A call is put out for closer collaboration among the different projects working in the same area of meeting the requirements in the OpenAIRE Guidelines.

    Research Information Management Systems: covering the whole research lifecycle
    (EUNIS, 2023-06-15)
    ;
    Since the joint EUNIS/euroCRIS CRIS/IR survey report was published in 2016, Current Research Information Systems (CRISs) have become even more widely implemented at institutions and in countries all over the world. These platforms traditionally serve a double purpose: as tools to showcase the research activity conducted within its walls and as internal databases to enable evidence-based decision-making processes. Increasingly, they also act as a reliable and comprehensive information source for external systems and services. This text provides a snapshot of the current CRIS landscape – with an emphasis on Europe – and summarises the various ways CRISs are currently used as well as introduces new emerging uses and scenarios. Special attention is paid to the ever-growing number of national and regional CRIS platforms, which are increasingly seen as valuable research information collection systems for the analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of research in specific geographies.

    The Research Information Hub as an access point to Finnish research
    (euroCRIS, 2019-05-28)
    The Research Information Hub gathers and shares data about research conducted in Finland. The information about researchers, publication, research data, ongoing research funding and research infrastructures will be effortlessly found from a single source. The rationalization of information flows lightens the administrative workload and makes the information more accessible and easier to find. The research outcomes will be more accessible to citizens using it, since the hub will provide a single, uniform, open and comprehensive access point available for everyone. The Hub is developed gradually and should be ready by 2020.

    Towards the integration of European research information

    The report "Towards a Bibliometric Database for the Social Sciences and Humanities – A European Scoping Project" produced for DFG, ESRC, AHRC, NWO, ANR and ESF in 2010 already explored the concept of Integrated European Research Information and identified the challenges around system interoperability arising from the variety of national systems, processes and data models. The VIRTA Publication Information Service operated by CSC provides a national-level solution for integrating publication information in Finland. A wider application of the VIRTA concept at European level is currently being tested via the “European Network for Research Evaluation in the Social Sciences and the Humanities” (ENRESSH) COST Action 2016-2020, where four countries are experimenting the feasibility of transferring their data into an European Publication Information Service for the Social Sciences and Humanities.

    Researchers' profiles in Finnish Research Information Hub
    (euroCRIS, 2022-05-12)
    ;
    This paper introduces the ongoing development related to Research.fi and how researchers’ information is handled on a national level. Introducing researchers’ profiles into Research.fi includes integrating information from organizational CRIS systems, ORCID and Finnish Research Information Hub and combines this into fully working tool, where publicity of researcher related information is controlled by the researcher's consent.

    Research.fi – the Finnish research information hub
    (euroCRIS, 2021-05-20)
    The presentation describes the current state of development of the Research.fi portal aiming to automatically bring together an up-to-date snapshot of the research information at a national level in Finland. The largely automated workflows for information collection, linking and exchange are laid out, together with the multiple research entities that make up the underlying research graph. Plans for further development for the national CRIS are also presented, including the addition of funding calls, the creation of links between projects, publications, datasets and research equipment, and a semantic search functionality.

    Linking funding to research output and facilities through the Finnish Research Information Hub
    (euroCRIS, 2018-06-15)
    ;
    CSC - IT Center for Science is establishing the Research Information Hub at the behest of the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. The planned service will serve as a warehouse for metadata on, for example, publications, research data, research facilities, researchers, projects and research groups.
