Abstract
The presentation introduces the EC Data4RI initiative to collect research information for impact evaluation of Research & Innovation investments across Europe. This information collection is aimed to foster better evidence-based decision-making processes, but the system interoperability requirements needed for this information to be consistently harvested and aggregated from a wide range of data provider systems are not there (or not yet). The presentation focuses on the workflows for collecting competitive funded-project information across EU Member States and beyond often using CRIS systems (either national/regional-level or funder CRISs) as sources for the data. A Linked Open Data Could approach is suggested as a solution to tackle the lack of interoperability together with the gradual implementation of persistent identifiers for researchers, organisations and grants. A demo is provided within the presentation to show the current status of the aggregated funded project database and the indicators that may already be examined for data analysis purposes.
