International standards setting for data on research information: the experience of CASRAI and euroCRIS

Abstract
The presentation addresses the need for system interoperability and efficient information exchange workflows in the area of research information. The standardization initiatives currently being carried out by organisations like CASRAI and euroCRIS are described in the 'three pillars of interoperability' framework. An introduction is delivered for CERIF as a base standard for CRIS systems and the current landscape is described for CRIS implementation. A number of opportunities and challenges around the current lack of interoperability are finally outlined, which require understanding and leadership from senior managers at organisations and national governments.
