The case study presented in these slides describes the standalone VIVO configuration implemented at the TIB Hannover to serve the research information management (RIM) needs at the institute, The presentation looks into the data management workflows for publications, author names and projects and into the use of OpenRefine to clean up the data. It is argued that a standalone VIVO may be the most efficient way to address such RIM needs at small institutions with a diverse research production that may not get indexed in the regular data sources for CRISs. The presentation also explores the main RIM areas that presently pose hard-to-tackle challenges from a VIVO perspective (the so-called "Four horsemen of the VIVOcalypse").
