Abstract:
The presentation makes the case for the strengthening of the research information management system network in Latin America in order to provide the required e-infrastructure to support the efforts to address global research challenges from the region. An analysis of the current evolving CRIS landscape in the region is provided, showing the speed at which these systems are emerging in the region, mostly at an institutional but also at a national level. The early-stage initiative to make these systems interoperable with OpenAIRE via the CERIF-XML Guidelines for CRIS Managers is summarised and the case is made for having these interoperability mechanisms implemented also at Latin American CRISs regardless of whether they are open source or proprietary systems.
