Abstract: 
The Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) is an all-encompassing initiative for assigning persistent unique identifiers to scholarly authors in order to deal with the attribution and disambiguation needs in the community. This presentation describes the project, which was officially launched barely two months ago in Oct 2012, its aims, participants and benefits. Research information management workflows for ORCID implementation and use are also presented for publishers and funders.
