Research Information Systems mainly collect research metadata to improve, distinguish and report the output of experts, institutions and working groups. CRIS systems are based on a system integration with the organizational HR or ERP systems to map research output data within the organization structure.

Connecting affiliated organizations from publications easily reports the list of cooperating research organizations from the viewpoint of the complete research institute. This can be connected with the internal structure of the organization and shows who is working in collaboration inside Centers, Departments, working groups and with external research groups.

In addition, collaborations will be broken down to research fields and topics. We The approach shows, the connecting data of the given sources may give insights about research fields over time.
