Abstract:
Research.fi is one of the case studies for current national research portals within the CRISCROS working group, especially as the portal operators transparently communicate information about implementation and operation. The lessons learned from the initiative are important guidelines for other CRISCROS WG members, in particular those who are at the beginning of implementation:

1. “Cooperation is key”: Research.fi relies on a clearly structured project team as well as new and established working groups.

2. “Keep current processes running”: Existing workflows at partner institutions should not be neglected, but instead further improved. The additional work that this entails for the institutions must be considered from the very beginning.

3. “Sustainability and longevity matter”: Initial goals continuously generate new goals, which is why strategic prioritisation and project management remain relevant even during regular operation and after the initial goals have been achieved.
