Title: | The Research Organization Registry (ROR) and CRIS Infrastructure: Current Examples and Future Possibilities | Authors: | French, Amanda | Keywords: | research information management;persistent identifiers;organization identifiers;Research Organization Registry (ROR);current research information systems | Issue Date: | 15-May-2025 | Publisher: | euroCRIS | Conference: | Membership Meeting 2025 – Spring (Leuven) | Abstract: | As the only free, open, global, community-led persistent identifier for research organizations, the Research Organization Registry (ROR) has a crucial role to play in the research information landscape. This presentation will begin by introducing ROR, explaining how ROR relates to other persistent identifiers, going over how ROR information is structured and updated, and relating ROR's history and governance model. Next, we will give some examples of CRIS systems that are already using ROR to standardize information about research organizations such as universities, institutes, companies, and funders. Finally, we will examine how the international CRIS infrastructure might benefit from incorporating ROR into systems and processes. |
