Abstract:
Among a wealth of reflections on interoperability from the CRIS viewpoint, this presentation from euroCRIS Strategic Partner the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) addresses the main conference topic from the repository perspective. The presentation stresses the very large number of repository platforms presently available worldwide which operate on highly standardized information exchange mechanisms and recommends that CRISs should become fully OAI-PMH compliant in order to realise the interoperability goals under discussion. The forthcoming "COAR Roadmap for Future Directions for Repositories Interoperability" is also presented as a synthesis of the features repositories are aiming to shortly address in order to enhance system interoperability.
