Item type:Publication, SIGMA CRIS, an implementation of VIVO(euroCRIS, 2019-05-29)The growing complexity of the digital research environments has highlighted the importance of having powerful tools for searching and discovering research information. The advance of Open Science, that includes not only Open Access, but also Open Data and the need to make the data FAIR, has shown that it's necessary to evolve the way we search and visualize the research results. So, when the scientific information is correctly stored in the CRIS, it must also be easy to search and find, and must guide the discovery of the information. This is one of the objectives within SIGMA's Strategic Plan for the Research area. Item type:Publication, Research Information Management (RIM)/Current Research Information (CRIS) Systems for Research Organizations: A Project Brief from the Open-Source VIVO Community(EUNIS, 2023-06-15); ; The use of Research Information Management (RIM) or Current Research Information Systems (CRIS) can significantly enhance the efficiency and innovation capacity of research organizations. RIM/CRIS systems aggregate, curate, and utilize diverse data on institutional research activities, enabling the strategic utilization of data for decision-making. VIVO is an open-source RIM/CRIS system that enables the recording, editing, searching, browsing, and visualizing of scholarly activity using linked open data. VIVO is customizable and supports additional domains of scholarly activity. The VIVO community is actively engaged in developing and evolving the system to expand its usability and utility through internationalization, multilanguage capabilities, installation of new versions, and API improvements. As an open-source RIM/CRIS system, VIVO is customizable to suit the unique use cases of an institution. Institutions own and control their data, enabling them to manage their privacy or security needs. Item type:Publication, Promoting and facilitating interoperability with VIVO(euroCRIS, 2019-09-04)The presentation describes the multiple-stage technical process currently applied by Sigma for uploading data from an institutional CRIS into a VIVO instance. The information displayed on the VIVO portal (the "Experts Guide") and the timing of the process are analysed, both for single and multiple institutions acting as data providers in the latter case. VIVO may operate as a standalone system, but for cases where it's sitting on top of an institutional CRIS, it is suggested that the interoperability between both systems could become a much more standard feature by having a mapping between CERIF and VIVO. Sigma is involved in the early stages of the CERIF2VIVO project, a collaboration between euroCRIS and VIVO that aims to produce such mapping at the same time it addresses the refactoring of CERIF in order to simplify its complex data model.
