ECOOM develops research and development (R&D) and innovation indicators for the Flemish government, which form the basis for funding models and research reporting in Flanders. ECOOM is also a strategic partner for the Flanders Research Information Space (FRIS), providing support for the standardisation and classification of research information in the regional CRIS. Item type:Publication, Research infrastructures: metadata model & data capturing in FRIS(euroCRIS, 2021-11-24); ; The presentation, jointly delivered by members of the Flemish Government Department of Economy, Science and Innovation and the ECOOM at Hasselt University, describes the ongoing process for the inclusion of data on research infrastructures into the regional Flanders Research Information Space (FRIS) regional CRIS. The scope of the initiative and the metadata model used to capture this additional piece of research information are outlined and some examples are shown. Item type:Publication, The creation of the Flemish research discipline list, a huge step forward in harmonizing research information (systems)(euroCRIS, 2018-06-14); In 2011, a report was written by Peters et al. on the administrative simplification of research reporting in Flanders. Next to the description of several data flows that could be harmonized, validated and merged into CRIS systems, the report also contained important recommendations on the use of common standards and classifications that could lead to more efficient and qualitative research information (systems) and thus more efficient research reporting. As such, in Flanders several classifications are used in research reporting, i.e. research discipline codes are used for denoting a researcher’s discipline, while financial codes are used for reporting on the funding type, and technology and publication codes are used for depicting innovation sectors and publication types respectively,... - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, An organizational approach for discipline prediction in research projects(euroCRIS, 2023-05-31); ; The prediction of research disciplines has gained increasing attention in recent years due to its potential implementations in a variety of fields, such as academic advising, career counseling, and academic research funding allocation. Research information systems storing projects (meta) data play a crucial role in managing and evaluating research (meta)data across different disciplines and fields of study. In this context, research projects are manually assigned one or more research disciplines to facilitate this process. This is usually done by research administrators due to the limited time the principal researchers themselves might have. In addition to being rather subjective and time-consuming, this can lead to inconsistencies in discipline assignments and hence impact the quality of data used for monitoring and reporting. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, New avenues for improving research management services through regional research information systems(euroCRIS, 2022-05-05); ; Over the past decades, the administrative burden on the research community has vastly expanded. In order to support research managers in their daily operation, research information systems have been built that are aimed at supporting research management processes and the efficient re-use of information for multiple purposes. Through the use of CERIF, the Common European Research Information Format, developed and maintained by euroCRIS, multiple research information systems can be connected and, importantly, can exchange research information in an interoperable manner.
