    Developers' workshop: Implementation of the OpenAIRE CERIF-XML Guidelines
    (euroCRIS, 2019-05-27)
    ;
    ;
    In view of the growing number of CRIS systems interested in the implementation of the OpenAIRE CERIF-XML Guidelines, this Developers' Workshop on the harvesting of CRIS systems by OpenAIRE attempted to provide an opportunity for a community discussion on the technical requirements associated to this process. Jointly led by euroCRIS and the local organisers of the Spring 2019 membership meeting, the activity included interventions by various systems undergoing the implementation (VIRTA at CSC, NARCIS at DANS) and by representatives from the OpenAIRE team.

    Progress in the implementation of OpenAIRE CERIF-XML Guidelines
    (euroCRIS, 2020-11-26)
    One of the main areas of activity of euroCRIS in recent times has been the promotion of the implementation of the OpenAIRE CERIF-XML Guidelines for CRIS Managers under the MoU signed between euroCRIS and the OpenAIRE legal entity back in May 2019. The OpenAIRE-funded METIS2OpenAIRE project resulted in the production of a number of case studies for institutional CRIS metadata harvesting and aggregation by OpenAIRE. While the number of OpenAIRE-compliant CRISs continues to grow, it’s still a limited amount of them and further dissemination is required to ensure a more widespread adoption of this system interoperability standard. This webinar will offer an opportunity for the OpenAIRE Advance team at the University of Bielefeld to deliver an update on the progress of the work to turn CRIS systems into certified data providers for OpenAIRE and thus to make their research output ready for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

    Supporting European-wide research information – OpenAIRE-related workflows

    OpenAIRE, the Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe, harvests research information systems – together with other ~2,000 data-sources – on a weekly basis through the OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS managers. Based on the open metadata for research outputs together with links to scientific products, access right information, metrics, as well as links to funding, project information and research communities, the OpenAIRE Research Graph is created on a monthly basis.

    CRIS in OpenAIRE - we take you onboard
    (euroCRIS, 2019-05-28)

    Rich research information in CRIS is a treasure for funders, organisations, and also for researchers. OpenAIRE works together with the research community, research administrators, funders, and with euroCRIS to lift the treasure and make this information visible in the OpenAIRE scholarly communication graph which is a key component of the European Open Science Cloud. The latest release of the OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Managers is a milestone to achieve interoperability between CRISs and OpenAIRE. Early adopters in a number of platforms demonstrate the enormous potential the integration of research information in OpenAIRE can have. We can identify different roles and functions of CRIS with regard to extend and enrich information in OpenAIRE, with e.g. publications, patents, and products sets contributing to research results metadata, and funding and projects set augmenting authoritative data.

    For developers of CRIS platforms, the OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Managers provide guidance to add supportive functionalities for CRIS administrators and users. Exchange of information between individual CRIS systems and the OpenAIRE infrastructure is an example of point-to-point data exchange between CRIS systems, since the OpenAIRE infrastructure itself is a CRIS system.

    OpenAIRE workflow for CRIS harvesting and first applications
    (euroCRIS, 2022-12-01)
    The presentation provides an update of the harvesting and aggregation services conducted by OpenAIRE within the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). CRIS systems are now starting to be added to the OpenAIRE data sources and research graph by means of their registration in the euroCRIS Directory of Research Information Systems (DRIS). The workflow for CRIS registration, harvesting and aggregation is shown together with the first CRIS software solutions offering out-of-the-box compliance with the OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Managers.
