Abstract:
The presentation provides an update on the progress of the ORCID initiative and the projects it's involved in. With over 4m live identifiers to date, ORCID is constantly aiming to expand its coverage by ensuring interoperability with different systems and stakeholders in the research community. The nearly completed THOR project has achieved such interoperability with DataCite, making it possible for datasets to be part of researchers' ORCID profiles. Work is also ongoing in the areas of Federated Identity Management, with an increasing number of integrations, and of OrgIDs, with a presently open proposal for comment by the community. New projects are being shortly launched that will provide continuity to the ongoing work such as STFC-led FREYA and the ORCID Reducing Burden and Improving Transparency (ORBIT) initiative in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health.
