Abstract:
*metrics is a DFG-funded project which started in 2017, https://metrics-project.net/. It aims to analyze the perception of indicators derived from scholarly communication on social media platforms among researchers as well as the reliability of alternative metrics based on tracking of such events. The poster summarizes goals and activities of the project and discusses findings of the first year. Examples from the first major survey show that it is important to know how researchers behave on (which) social media platforms before starting to measure any possible impact based on such signals.
