Abstract: 
This keynote speech on the SweCRIS funded project database for Swedish research funders was jointly delivered by Jonas Gurell (Swedish Research Council) and Gustaf Nelhans (University of Borås). The presentation by the first speaker addressed the technical and cultural challenges involved in putting together a single project database for multiple Swedish research funders of various sizes and how these were overcome to offer the SweCRIS platform to Universities in the country. The second presentation, by a researcher using the information included in the database to support the monitoring of research and innovation performance and societal impact of research and innovation, provides the project database user perspective. Potential shortcomings and possible improvements are pointed out on the basis of the use of the SweCRIS data for practical applications.
