Abstract:
In the past few months a specific euroCRIS task force has been busy working on an updated version of the Directory of Research Information Systems (DRIS) with the aim of making it far more comprehensive than it is at the moment, https://dspacecris.eurocris.org/cris/explore/dris.

In order to simplify the effort, the scope for this first iteration has been restricted to European countries and the system description to the bare minimally sufficient set of metadata fields. The result is a collection of over 400 entries for European CRIS systems, both operational and under implementation. Most of these are institutional Research Information Management (RIM) Systems, but there are also national-, regional-level and research funder platforms among others.

This updated DRIS is not yet publicly available -- before releasing it, euroCRIS wanted to first hold a discussion with the RIM community in order to address topics such as:

- the increasingly blurred boundaries between CRIS and repositories (i.e. what systems would qualify for an entry in the DRIS?)

- what services will be offered on top of the directory

- strategy for collecting comprehensive sets of entries

- agreement with data providers (mainly institutions) to keep entries up to date

- expanded metadata set for system description

These are the supporting slides for the discussion with the attendees to the Interest Group meeting held on the subject at the Autumn 2019 euroCRIS Strategic Membership in Warsaw.
