Abstract
Open research infrastructures depend on coordinated governance, sustainability planning, and active international collaboration. As expectations for interoperability and transparency increase, community-led platforms must align innovation with long-term organizational resilience.
This introduction provides an update on the VIVO community’s current status and strategic positioning. Key themes include:
● Community participation and working groups
● Sustainability approaches and membership engagement
● Ecosystem partnerships and interoperability orientation
● Opportunities for institutional involvement in VIVO
The argument advanced is that durable research information infrastructures require both technical robustness and structured community stewardship, particularly in an open-source context.
