    The case for interoperability in CRIS solutions
    (eiroCRIS, 2011-05-27)
    The presentation describes the modular system architecture and the functionality of the SURplus platform developed by the CILEA University Consortium in Italy. System interoperability is presented as the basis for input/output data exchange that will enable both to ingest the relevant information from legacy systems and to export and showcase the institutional research output.

    Enhancing interoperability: the implementation of OpenAIRE Guidelines and COAR NGR Recommendations in CRIS/RIMS
    (euroCRIS, 2019-06-10)
    The continuous work of the OpenAIRE community on guidelines for CRIS managers, literature repositories, and data archives, together with the publication of the “Behaviours and Technical Recommendations of the COAR Next Generation Repositories Working Group”, are raising important challenges for the CRIS and the repository communities, working together to make research information more an more interoperable, and, hopefully, open. The recommendations of the Open Science Policy Platform, published by the European Commission, identify FAIR (Findable-Accessible-Interoperable-Reusable) data among its priorities. In an interoperable world, all these indications lead toward a common direction, where implementers are encouraged to use open protocols, such as the OAI-PMH and ResourceSync, open standards such as CERIF, persistent identifiers such as DOIs and ORCiDs, to make this happen. The presentation will go through these challenges, illustrating how CRIS and repository managers should work together toward a successful information exchange, and exemplifying how a single free open platform, DSpace-CRIS, can implement both a CRIS and a repository and fulfill requirements for a FAIR environment for research information and research objects.

    The presentation provides an introduction to the different areas of activity in research information management at CINECA both in Italy and abroad – with an emphasis on the Institutional Research Information System (IRIS) solution currently under implementation at numerous Italian HEIs and the DSpace-CRIS platform. An insight is also provided on the updated look&feel and new features for the upgraded DSpace-CRIS euroCRIS repository hosted at CINECA.

    Innovative Open Source Technologies for a CRIS: SURplus, a solution by CINECA
    (euroCRIS, 2013-05-13)
    ;
    This presentation describes the open source system SURplus developed by CINECA for providing an answer to the research information management needs at Italian HEIs. The first section introduces CINECA and its current restructuring process following its recent merger with Cilea and Caspur to become the only Italian University Consortium. The description of SURplus features is followed by a detailed explanation of the various open source technologies used by the system in order to provide its comprehensive functionality. A description is also provided for the HKU Scholar Hub platform run by the Hong Kong University on a DSpace-CRIS platform jointly developed by HKU and CINECA.

    How to make research information FAIR: DSpace-CRIS and best practices in open research information
    (euroCRIS, 2018-06-16)
    ;
    ;
    In 2014, a group of scientists and stakeholders in the Data Science community created the FAIR Data Publishing Group in the context of Force11 (a community of scholars, librarians, archivists, publishers and research funders that facilitates the change toward improved knowledge creation and sharing), to debate about how to enhance the ecosystem of research data. The output was a set of guiding principles and practices to make users able to more easily discover, access, interoperate, and reuse, the vast amount of data generated by research. These principles should enable implementation of compliant tools that support FAIRness of data management.
