dc.description | Talk delivered at the 1st Workshop on CRIS, CERIF and Institutional Repositories, Module 1: "The intersection of data models and metadata concerning IR and CRIS".-- 34 slides | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | This position paper is a result of my involvement as designer, developer, project manager and data architect of information systems to manage and promote research at the University of St Andrews from 2002 onwards. Moving from industry I discovered a whole new world of siloed processes, applications and data sets with academic freedom pitted against the institutional drive for better quality research information. Good quality, timely and comprehensive data is required to inform strategy, to comply with funder mandates and to submit to the government for evaluation: the latter determining the allocation of over £1.5 billion within the UK. | en_US |
