    Are CRIS Systems and Repositories Becoming One and the Same Thing?

    The paper “The Gradual Merging of Repository and CRIS Solutions to Meet Institutional Research Information Management Requirements” published at https://doi.org/10.1016/j.procs.2014.06.007 within the euroCRIS CRIS2014 conference proceedings back in 2014, stated that “(…) the main open source IR platforms have now developed extended data models that will allow them to deliver features traditionally associated to CRISs such as project and funding management”. This trend for CRIS systems and repositories to sit ever closer to each other in terms of the features they offer to institutions is now seeing a step change with the announced merger of DSpace and DSpace-CRIS. The presentation will try to answer the question on its title, arguing that it’s the content offered from the various platforms that will truly allow repositories and CRIS systems to become one and the same thing.

    Prospects for the Development of Research Infrastructure in Ukraine

    Widespread European University Alliances across Europe – and specifically their 'research side' – are shown as a springboard for the next challenge in research information management, namely international interoperability. This is the feature that will allow member institutions of these alliances to aggregate their various research entities (researchers, projects, publications, infrastructures) to better provide a snapshot of their joint strengths and promote the opportunities for research-oriented collaborations within the partnership. Since Ukrainian universities are often associate partners in many of these EUAs, the role is explored that the Ukrainian national CRIS URIS could play in enabling institutions in the country to gather and add their research information to the alliance aggregation.

Dies umfasst eine Live-Demonstration der neuen Bestandteile des KDSF 2.0 (Basisdaten, Module, Referenzabfragen) und der weiteren Angebote wie etwa Mappings mit bestehenden Anwendungsfällen und öffentlich dokumentierten Berichtsabfragen. Der Vortrag schließt mit einem Ausblick auf die anstehenden Weiterentwicklungen des Standards.

    Expanding the research graph underpinning the implementation of Open Science: research instruments and facilities

    Research instruments and facilities constitute an area of ever-growing relevance for research-performing organisations, research funders and research information managers alike. However, initiatives to gather the data on this equipment at an institutional or a national level are often working in isolation. Offering an opportunity for an international discussion on the matter was the main driver for the round table on emerging information collection workflows for research instruments and facilities held during the Autumn 2024 euroCRIS membership meeting at the INRAE in Paris last November. The panellists were representatives of various national and regional research information portals across Europe.

    Common Research Information Management from a European University Alliance Perspective

    As befits an initiative supported by the European Commission DG for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, European University Alliances are expected to deliver a leap forward in the way transnational education is implemented at a European level. The opportunities these cross-institutional collaboration networks offer in the domain of research are however as relevant as those available in the area of teaching and learning. Aware that little has been presented in this domain at previous EUNIS annual congresses, the coauthors set out to explore what European university alliances might achieve (and are already achieving) in the realm of research through an effective collaboration across its member institutions. This exploration aims to identify some best practices against the framework provided by euroCRIS's regular community management work in the area of research information.

    Gestion de l'information sur la recherche dans un environnement décentralisé

    The presentation provides a summary of the work conducted over the years by OCLC in the research information management domain. Several reports analysing the CRIS/RIMS landscape worldwide and specifically in the United States context are highlighted and their conclusions are examined. The case studies explored in the 2021 joint OCLC/euroCRIS report "Research Information Management in the United States" are briefly described and the insights this report provided into the US RIMS landscape are summarised.

    Metadata traceability and reuse in research projects

    In research projects, the use of Data Management Plans (DMPs) is becoming increasingly common. These documents describe the data used and generated throughout a project, aligning with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). Machine-actionable DMPs (maDMPs) are structured, standardized, and encoded versions of DMPs that allow systems to automatically interpret, validate, and process them. This enables automation, dynamic updates, and seamless integration with other research tools, enhancing efficiency, reproducibility, and transparency. One of the most established standards for developing maDMPs is the RDA-DMP Common Standard, promoted by the Research Data Alliance (RDA). To support the creation and validation of maDMPs according to this standard, tools like the Python library madmpy offer a programmatic interface that enables their seamless integration into data workflows and research applications.

    CRISCROS report: euroCRIS Working Group on National/Regional Research Portals

    This paper introduces the CRISCROS project, an international working group that explores the topic of national and regional research portals. CRISCROS brings together various initiatives to collaborate and discuss best practices. Moreover, the members are particularly interested in highlighting the challenges of managing research information on a large scale (national, regional, consortial). In this paper, we present how the working group offers both experienced and new projects a platform for accessible and engaging exchange. Furthermore, we offer insight into CRISCROS’ goals and topics and provide a summary of our findings.

    Cross-Country Collaboration: The SELRIM Experience

    The SELRIM PROJECT (South European Link for Research Information Management) ran from 2015 to 2016. SELRIM was launched by CINECA (Italy), CSUC (Catalonia), EKT (Greece) and FCT/FCCN (Portugal) in Nov 2015 to share views on the development of Research Information Management Systems (RIMS) in their respective countries. The main focus of the project was on collaboration, CERIF, open source technologies and standards, and on how to identify differences and commonalities.
